October Energy Forecast: The thing you keep putting off

Hey Reader,

I recorded this month's Energy Forecast in the polytunnel (well, until the camera overheated...), tomatoes and cucumbers finally out, the space winding down for winter. Felt fitting, actually, given what October's bringing up.

Same tension I've mentioned before, the pull to get out and do things, against the pull to go inward as the light shortens. This month it's less about picking a side and more about being discerning with where your attention actually goes. Maybe there's something you keep pushing to the bottom of the list because there's the sort of resistance around pushing the comfort zone, and some part of you knows it would change something. That's worth a proper look this month.

The plant that came to me was wild thyme, the low creeping kind that's all over the fells. A hard walk last week taught me something about it, growing close to the ground, in conditions that would stop most things.

And that 'hard walk'? It got me to Sickers Fell - the third of the Howgill 'sleeping elephants'. Somehow I did it in just over 2 hours, but only because my legs were that jiggered I ended up jogging most of the way back down the Dales Highway and Winder. That counts as fell running right?! No idea how my grandfather used to do it on the way up!

Big love,
Sarah

If you need something more personal — write to me. Hit reply and tell me a little about where you are: what's ended, what you're carrying, what's pulling at you. I'll write back, and if it feels right I'll suggest a plant ally or two that belong with where you are right now. I read every reply and I'm always glad to hear from you.

Wild Rose Path

For the ones who can see the life they want but can't yet find the path to it. For the woman who suspects the way back to herself might be through something older and slower and closer to the earth than anything she's tried so far. Each week I write about life transitions, plant wisdom, and seasonal rhythm... real letters, not polished advice. When you join, you'll get The Stile, five honest questions that show you which landscape you're actually standing in right now, plus the plant ally that grows there and a small five-minute practice to do.
